Derrick Adams and Tremaine Lewis were arrested Monday night at a candlelight vigil for victims of recent shootings in Iberia Parish.

Iberia Sheriff’s deputies say they responded to a call in the area of Mississippi Street at Cletus Street of a male carrying a rifle. Deputies say they found two AR-15 rifles, an AK-47 rifle with the stock removed and a 22 caliber revolver inside a vehicle parked in the roadway that was surrounded by a group of people. Investigators say they found illegal narcotics and more than 200 rounds of ammunition.

Adams was the person deputies say was walking around with the rifle. He was arrested on multiple charges including Possession of a Firearm in a Firearm Free Zone and Possession of Schedule III narcotics.

Lewis was a passenger in the vehicle and was arrested for Possession of a Firearm in a Firearm Free Zone.
