This week three more defendants plead guilty to vehicle insurance fraud before US District Judge Richard Haik. 27 year old Wardell Lockhart of Lafayette; 50 year old Aleric Johnson of New Iberia and 53 year old Buddy Estelle also of New Iberia plead guilty to participating in staged vehicle accidents to defraud insurance companies.

Each admitted to different roles in at least one staged accident from 2003 until March of 2010. They drove cars, served as passengers or independent witnesses or participated in some other way.

They face up to five years in prison, three years supervised release, a $250,000 fine and restitution. A sentencing date has not been set.

Three other defendants have already pleaded guilty to roles in the scheme.
