Every time I attend an event at the Acadiana Center for the Arts in downtown Lafayette I feel blessed to live in this community. This venue is on par with any you might find in a much larger city and it many cases it exceeds those. Esthetically pleasing, handicap friendly and acoustically perfect.

With a venue such as this one we are further blessed by having civic minded sponsors who help to bring world class entertainment to our town. This past Friday night we attended an incredible performance by two-time Grammy jazz singer Diane Schuur accompanied by the UL Jazz Ensemble. This caliber of performer does not appear in Lafayette or any other town for the box office receipts. Without the generosity of corporate and individual sponsors we would have to pay much higher costs for tickets.

I've seen and heard entertainers from all genres of music in this world class facility and I applaud Executive Director Gerd Wuestemann, his staff, the volunteers and sponsors who help to make Lafayette one of the best places to live in this country.
