Louisiana State Police Troop I Spokesman Brooks David says a 73-year-old Arnaudville man died in a two car crash yesterday evening.

The crash, which ended up being head-on, happened at around 6:30 yesterday evening on Louisiana Highway 347 in St. Martin Parish.

David says their information at this time is that 22-year-old Kami Stoute of Arnaudville crossed the center line of the roadway while she was overcorrecting after going over to the right side of the road. Her car slammed into Whitney Chevalier's truck.

While Chevalier was taken to an area hospital, he later died from his injuries.

Stoute was also taken to the hospital in critical condition, and while impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash, routine toxicology samples were taken.

David wants drivers to remember that things can happen in an instant while you are driving, so he hopes that people will never driver impaired, fatigues or otherwise distracted.
