A 23-year-old man was arrested Friday nearly a month after an alleged incident during which gunshots were fired.

According to Rayne Police Department Chief of Police Carroll Stelly, Lamar Malbrough was arrested at around 1 p.m. Friday in the city of Crowley with the assistance of the United State Marshal's Office.

Lamar was allegedly one of two suspects in a June 30 incident during which Malbrough allegedly tried to rob two men.

"One of the offenders discharged a firearm into the victim's occupied vehicle," Stelly said.

Another suspect, Bryan Bellard, turned himself in.

Both men were arrested on two counts of attempted armed robbery and two counts of attempted first degree murder.

Malbrough was arrested after police received a tip through the Crime Stoppers tip line, which provided investigators with the time and location of an upcoming appointment.
