The Better Business Bureau of Acadiana says Black Friday Deals are great but those on Cyber Monday should be approached with caution. The Monday after Thanksgiving is a day many people shop for Christmas and avoid the crowds but the BBB says it may leave you open to hackers and scammers.

The Better Business Bureau advises that you have the latest spam filters, anti-virus and anti-spyware and a secure firewall installed on your computer. They also advise you to use strong unique passwords for all on-line accounts. Beware of deals that are too-good-to-be-true and pay with a credit card if a dispute arises from your purchase.

In addition the BBB urges you to keep documentation of all orders and check your credit card statements often...don't wait for paper statements.

If you have any questions about your rights as a cyber-shopper or have complaints, call the Better Business Bureau of Acadiana at 337-981-3497.
