It appears the Saints have parted ways with Brandon Browner—well, at least according to his 'farewell' tweet to New Orleans and the Who Dat Nation.

The Saints defensive back declined to make any further comment to ESPN, but his posts on social media don't leave much speculation to his future in New Orleans. There hasn't been any official word from the Saints either, and league rules don't allow them to cut ties with Browner until after the Super Bowl.

Browner struggled in the Saints defensive backfield throughout last season with 76 tackles, 10 passes defended and only 1 interception. He was also notorious for constantly racking up penalties that many fans believe cost the Saints a few close games.

As a matter of fact, Browner's 24 penalties (21 accepted) was the most by any player in a single season since 2001.

The 31-year-old defensive back costs the Saints $6.3 million against the cap and is due $5 million in salary and bonuses—$2.75 million of that amount being fully guaranteed, this according to ESPN.

The Saints will save $950,000 in cap space and $2.25 million in cash if they wait until after March 9, when the new league year begins, to release him. They could save even more against the cap if they release him after June 1.

At 6-foot-4, 221 pounds Browner was expected to bring a big physical presence to the Saints defensive backfield. His size proved effective in matchups with big receivers, but he was often always getting burned in mismatches against faster receivers.

In Browner's defense, the Saints being unable to stay healthy at the corner position didn't help his situation at all.

At one point during the final game of the 2015 regular season, I sat in the dome and heard Browner get loudly booed by fans during pregame introductions. As frustrated as I had been with Browner as a fan all season, I remember sitting there actually feeling bad for the guy.

With all that said, his exit was way classier than I expected.

Do you think Browner will get picked up quickly by another team? Are you happy to see home go? Did you think he would be as big a bust as he was?
