Bridge Operator Dies In Calcasieu Parish

When DOTD workers were not able to contact the operator at the Bayou Black Bridge this morning the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Officer was called to investigate. Deputies discovered the body of 58 year old Dorthy Carter face down in the bridge motor. Apparently Carter's clothing became stuck in the bridge motor and she was unable to free herself. Carter was pronounced dead at the scene. Foul play is not suspected according to Kim Meyers of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Officer.
