For a lot of us, the memory of 2016's devastating flooding is still quite fresh in our memories. The fact is that it's been about two years since record rainfall inundated portions of the state. While the water has receded a lot faster than the recovery has progressed we can at least acknowledge the forward progress.

Several Louisiana State Parks were damaged in the floods of 2016 and yesterday Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser announced that cabin rentals at three of those facilities that were affected by the floods are set to reopen to guests.

Cabins at Lake Bisteneau, Lake Fausse Pointe, and Tickfaw State Parks are now once again available for campers to enjoy. Okay, they're not ready exactly now but by October 22nd guests may once again enjoy these facilities at these particular state parks.

Unfortunately, not all the cabins at these parks will be available for guests by October. The cabin reopening will occur in stages and the hope is that by the end of the year remaining cabins will be ready.

The easiest way to rent a cabin at these parks or any Louisiana State Park is to do it online or by calling 877-226-7652.
