When you audit the books, you can find out a lot. One of those things you can learn is whether or not someone is allegedly stealing your money.

An Amelia business discovered some $26,000 was missing from their company after an audit was conducted.

A St. Mary Parish Sheriff's detective began to investigate, and the detective was able to document that a former employee had written checks on the company's account, instead of doing the right thing, deputies alleged she put that money into her own account.

Detectives took 24-year-old Samantha Pavlick into custody after she went in to talk to officials at the Morgan City branch of the Sheriff's Office.

Pavlick was released from the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Jail after posting a $2,500 bond.
