The campaign for the office of Chief of Police in Broussard has taken a nasty turn. Last night one of Chief Brannon Decou's campaign signs was set on fire in downtown Broussard. This is the second incident in three weeks to mar the campaign. On August 27th a supporter of Decou's opponent allegedly went into Decou's campaign headquarters and threatened a Decou volunteer.

Chief Decou issued the following statement today,

A full investigation is being launched into the fire situation and a report was filed on the threatening behavior that was exhibited in my campaign headquarters. I respect everyone's right to support whatever candidate they choose, but the political process does not give anyone the right to threaten anyone or destroy property. I challenge my opponent to clean up his campaign and ensure his supporters do not cause any more issues tin the weeks leading up to Election Day.
