Cold Front Moves Into Louisiana

“High temperatures today will be in the 60's and 70's, but by tomorrow the temperatures will only be in the 40's so they’re going to drop about 25 or 30 degrees over what you’re going to experience today,” says State Climatologist Barry Keim.

The cold air is expected to stick around all weekend long, and keep temperatures in the 50s into next week. Keim says north Louisiana could be in for some particularly nasty freezes.

“Most of the state will see a freeze Sunday with the only exception being the coastal parishes, and the northern parishes will see a hard freeze.”

Snow is not projected despite the combination of freezing temperatures and precipitation. Keim says with that in mind, drivers in north Louisiana should be careful on the roads tonight.

“There is a slight chance of snow across northern parishes tonight, it’s a slight chance, but certainly something people should keep an eye out for a whole host of hazardous driving conditions.”

Temperatures should return to the 60s late next week.
