I am not surprised that the Cooking Channel will once again be stopping for a visit in Lafayette. I'd think any entity whose mission it is to promote unique and delicious food would have Acadiana as a hot spot on the culinary radar screen. Monday night on the Cooking Channel one of Lafayette's most inspiring dining destinations will get the national spotlight when Southern and Hungry stops in at Cafe V.

If you've never watched Southern and Hungry it's a great resource for finding great food all over the region. The hosts of the show, Damaris Phillips and Rutledge Wood are dedicated foodies. Phillips has made a living in the culinary world while Wood has earned notoriety in the world of fast cars and auto racing. Together they present contrasting points of view that often converge in epicurean ecstasy.

If you tune in Monday night you'll get a behind the scenes view of what happens in the kitchen at Cafe Vermilionville as they prepare some true South Louisiana classics. The show will feature pork chops and sweet potatoes, turtle soup, an andouille hash with a blueberry demi-glace plus pecan pie for dessert.

Southern and Hungry will air on the Cooking Channel Monday night at 8 pm.
