*** UPDATE ***

On Friday, Cormier was declared brain dead at Rapides General Hospital in Alexandria.  His body is being sustained so that his organs may be donated.

Just after 8:00 AM yesterday, a three-car crash occurred in Calcasieu Parish.

A small truck driven by Jacob Michael Cormier, of Lake Charles, crossed the center line into the path of a larger truck driven by Dustin Cody Hebert, of Sulphur, when Hebert swerved to avoid Cormier. Hebert’s truck was side swiped.

Another truck that was traveling behind Hebert, driven by Regina Gayle Doyle, of Sulphur, was hit by Cormier in a head on collision. She was wearing her seatbelt and suffered minor injuries.

Cormier and his passenger, Brandy Anderson, of Westlake, were not wearing seatbelts, and are being treated for serious injuries.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor, but toxicology results are pending.

The crash remains under investigation, but Cormier was charged with driving left of the center line and failure to wear a seatbelt. More charges are possible.
