Qualifying for the general election is set to begin this Wednesday across the state. Besides local races and the race for the Presidency there will be congressional races as well.  Candidates will be qualifying to fill the seat of retiring U.S. Senator David Vitter . All of Louisiana’s House of Representatives seats will be on the ballot as well.

There could be a very familiar and often divisive name on the ballot for the Representative seat in Louisiana’s 1st Congressional District. That is the name of former State Representative and former leader of the KKK, David Duke.

Duke indicated that had authorized a campaign committee to explore whether or not a run for Congress would be feasible this November. According to a report published by the Louisiana Radio Network Duke seemed to suggest in his comments that recent police shooting and their slant against white Americans were the reason for his contemplation to enter the campaign.

I’ll be the guy in the United States Congress who will stand up and defend the interests of European Americans, and the rights of all Americans.

Duke also indicated that he felt the white majority of Americans were losing their voice across the country.

They’re determined to make us a small minority in this nation, and if that happens, we’re going to lose everything that we care about, every right we have.

Duke says that citizens of the First Congressional District are encouraging him to run this November.

They’ll say ‘it’s your duty; you’re the only one who really has been powerfully expressive on these issues for all these years and stood up for us.’ We don’t need any more sell outs. We need the real thing.

Duke, a resident of Mandeville, has given no specific timeline of when his official decision on whether to run or not will be made. Qualifying for the November election will conclude on Friday July 22nd.
