Nature is in its transitional phase. As we move from Summer into Autumn and eventually into what we in South Louisiana will call Winter the weather can be a bit fickle. Such is the case with our forecast for the next several days.

This morning your biggest weather issue will likely be fog. A Dense Fog Advisory has been posted for the southern half of the state. The area that is most likely to experience heavy fog and visibilities down to less than a quarter of a mile is the area generally south of a Leesville to Alexandria to Marksville line.

Fog should remain in the area at least until mid-morning when there should be enough sunshine to burn it off. That's just the first of the weather issues we'll be dealing with.

Severe storms could be a part of the Acadiana weather picture Wednesday night into the early morning hours of Thursday. A strong frontal system pushing through the heart of the country is expected to kick off substantial showers and thunderstorms over much of Louisiana.

As far as trick-or-treating goes, it will all depend on the timing of this frontal system. Right now much of the model guidance is in agreement that the heaviest showers and storms won't affect the area until well after the pumpkin's candles have been extenquished on Halloween night.

That doesn't mean we can rule out a stray shower or thunderstorm ahead of the main frontal boundary. Forecasters are calling for a 40% probability of showers for late Wednesday afternoon into the trick-or-treat hours. That rain chance blossoms to a near 100% probability by midnight and into the early morning hours of Thursday.
