The honors continue to pour in for LSU running back Derrius Guice, following his sterling performance last Saturday.

One day after being named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week, Guice was named the Maxwell Award National Player of the Week, as given out by the Maxwell football club, on Tuesday.

A junior, Guice rushed 22 times for 276 yards and one touchdown in LSU's 40-24 victory over the Ole Miss Rebels last week.

An Associated Press first-team All-SEC selection last season, Guice now has three career games in which he eclipsed 250 rushing yards, making him only the third player in SEC history ever to do so.

Guice becomes the second LSU player in as many weeks to earn a national weekly honor, after inside linebacker Devin White was named the Bednarik national player of the week for his 15 tackles on October 14 against Auburn.
