A concerned citizen called the Vermilion Municipal Narcotics Task Force Sunday after someone called her number by accident offering to sell them drugs.  That call led to an investigation, and the arrest of 35-year-old Synthia Grotheer.

Narcotics agents say a narcotics agent called the number of the woman offering drugs and pretended to be an interested buyer. The agent was able to purchase drugs from the woman, and Grotheer said if he wanted more she would have some the next day.

The next day the agent called Grotheer again, and she again offered to sell the agent some drugs.   At the meeting Grotheer had her juvenile child with her at the time.  She was charged with:

  • distribution of a schedule II narcotic
  • possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile

Agents say Grotheer was using her children’s prescription drugs to sell.  While she was being booked on the charges, police found out there were numerous outstanding warrants for Grotheer, along with a probation and parole revocation.
