Imagine this scenario: you and your friends are all headed to Downtown Lafayette. Maybe you're headed to the Greenroom, Jefferson Street Pub, or Grant Street Dance Hall. You want to dance and have a few drinks, but you HATE carrying your purse or having a wallet in your pocket.

Well, I've got some good news for you!

Meet "Louisiana Wallet". It's a smartphone app that lets you display a digital copy of your Louisiana drivers license. Brought to you by a Baton Rouge company, Envoc, users can enjoy this convenience for $5.99. You may have heard about this before; it's been around since June. The thing is, you could only use this during traffic stops, as law enforcement officers were the only entity required to accept the digital license, but that is about to change.

According to Spectrum, the Louisiana Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control is expected to announce next week that common vendors such as bars and grocery stores will be allowed to use Louisiana Wallet as an official method of age verification. Just pull up the app, and the vendor will use the same app to scan and confirm that your info is legit. When you create the account initially, it will cross-reference the info you input with the Office of Motor Vehicles and fill in the blanks, as well as add your photo.

It is being said that this could bring an end to, or at least drastically reduce underage drinking in bars. What do you think of this new license and how will it affect you personally? Let us know on Facebook or Twitter, and please drink responsibly!
