The campuswide evacuation of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in response to a bomb threat took a "a lot of effort" and cooperation among the various local, state, and federal agencies that assisted in that investigation.

State police Troop I spokesperson Master Trooper Brooks David said working together "was such a large task; however, everything fell into place." The heads of the different agencies also did a "good job at getting everyone on the same page," David said.

David said the most important success of last week's investigation is that nothing harmful happened to the university population and to the residents at-large.

"Our main focus is public safety, and at the end of the day we want to make sure that everybody goes home safe," David said. "At the end of the day, as long as everybody is okay, that's all that matters to us."
