It happened near Vidrine Elementary School in Evangeline Parish where a crossing guard was directing traffic this morning.  Two cars rammed each other at the intersection of Highway 10 and 376.  One of the cars then hit the 62-year old crossing guard.

State Police spokesman Stephen Hammons said that they are withholding the name of the guard until next of kin can be notified.

Police did say that the crossing guard was an employee of the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s office for more than three years.

No citations have been issued, but Louisiana State Police Troop I are continuing to investigate the crash.
