GRAND ISLE, La. (AP) — Grand Isle Fire Chief Aubrey Chaisson is among 20 people arrested on drug charges.

Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand says firefighter Patrick Santiny was also among those arrested. Sixteen other island residents and two people from Lafourche Parish also were booked Thursday.

Normand says Chaisson was booked on a charge of possession of marijuana and an outstanding attachment for contempt of court. Santiny was booked with possession of marijuana, possession of a control dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The other 18 people arrested were also booked mostly on drug charges. One person in Lafourche Parish was also booked on a weapons charge.

Normand says the investigation is ongoing, and could result in more arrests.

Normand says the arrests came as part of the six-month undercover operation.
