High School Playoff Results

It was a tough night to be a high school football fan in Acadiana. With several teams just one win away from a trip to the 'dome and many others on the doorstep of the semi-finals it turned into a night of just wasn't meant to be. The only survivors of the Thanksgiving Friday slate were St. Thomas More and Notre Dame of Crowley on the private school side of the slate. The teams from Welsh and Kinder were winners on the public school side of the brackets.

Lafayette football fans knew that they would have at least one team headed to the state championships since St. Thomas More was playing Teurlings Catholic. In a previous meeting this year Rebels had gotten the better of the Cougars by just one point. Friday St. Thomas More got their revenge in a game that mattered more.

In the public schools semi-finals games the teams from Kinder and Welsh kept their championship dreams alive with victories in their respective games.  It's unfortunate that those two teams will meet next weekend to decide which team will move on to New Orleans with the chance at a state championship.
