When the holidays approach, you can normally expect to see an increase in police presence. But, a grant given to the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office will allow them to conduct high visibility campaigns from now until October 30, 2015.

“This detail is made available through a grant received from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission's implementation of alcohol-impaired driving countermeasures and seatbelt enforcement,” says Sheriff Louis Ackal. “Deputies will begin conducting saturation patrols within the city of New Iberia and also Iberia Parish.”

Sheriff Ackal went on to say that deputies with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office will be focusing on drivers who appear to be under the influence and who are not wearing seatbelts “in order to make streets safer for the citizens of Iberia Parish.”
