Have you ever heard the rumor that the reason Dolly Parton always wears long sleeved shirts is because she's covered in "secret tattoos"? It's a topic of true legend status that has been swirling around for years, and it turns out it might actually be true.

I've heard many different versions of this secret tattoo rumor, from Dolly having both arms completely covered, to her even having her entire midsection covered.

Back in 2011, Roseanne spilled the beans publicly when she was a guest on Craig Ferguson's show.

"Do you know who's totally tattooed? I shouldn't even tell this. Dolly Parton is totally tattooed…She showed me. She's got all these awesome tattoos all over her body—no black or blue lines, all like, pastel gorgeous bows all over everything."

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Dolly did admit to having some tattoos, but didn't say how many she has.

"I don’t really like to make a big to-do of [the tattoos] because people make such a big damn deal over every little thing. But most of the tattoos, when I first started, I was covering up some scars that I had, ‘cause I have a tendency to have keloid scar tissue, and I have a tendency where if I have any kind of scars anywhere then they kind of have a purple tinge that I can never get rid of. So mine are all pastels, what few that I have, and they’re meant to cover some scars. I’m not trying to make some big, bold statement.”

Dolly's statement seems to corroborate what Rosanne said about her tattoos being "pastel".

In the video below, you'll see Dolly on "The Jay Leno Show" when he notices a tattoo on her arm (skip ahead to the 3:20 mark).

On The Today Show a few years ago, she was again asked about her tattoos and answered "I do have a few and they’re not where you can see them ... They’re mostly for my husband, [Carl Thomas Dean].”

As you can see, she isn't denying it. The amount to which she is tattooed however still remains a mystery...and I love it.

I think Dolly is one of most special people to have ever walked this Earth, and I love how she keeps her personal business, her personal business. I'm also a fan of tats, and to think Dolly has "secret tattoos" only makes her even more of a legend in my book.
