In July of this year a proposal was introduced before the Lafayette City Council that, if passed, would dismantle some of the structure of Lafayette government as we have known it since 1996.

At that time, voters decided to go forward with a plan two consolidated the city and parish, but each of the other five municipalities retained their own autonomy.

A measure that is up for approval from Lafayette voters in December would seek to start dismantling certain aspects of structure of Lafayette Consolidated government.

Former Lafayette City Parish President Joey Durel joined Bernie and Rob on "Acadiana's Morning News" today to talk about why he will vote 'yes' to the proposition on the December 8 ballot.
