Louisiana resident, and 'Dukes of Hazzard' star, John Schneider has petitioned a California court to return to jail instead of paying alimony he owes his ex wife.

Schneider was sentenced to three days behind bars in the Los Angeles County Jail in June, but was released early due to over crowding. He owes his ex wife Elvira 'Elly' Schneider, over $150,000 in back alimony. The couple were married for 21 years and split in 2014. She was awarded $18,911 a month.

Schneider says it is 'unlikely' that he will be able to comply with the court's requests, and is willing to do the jail time instead of paying what he owes. He also stated 'I am willing and able to accept the punishment for my actions/inactions as to this matter and I request this court to impose such sentence without further delay'.  Schneider says he doesn't have the money in part due to the extensive damage to his movie studio in Holden, Louisiana caused by the massive 2016 floods.

He also has to complete 240 hours of community service, whether he returns to jail or not. Read more about the story from People Magazine. We are hoping things can get resolved soon for all parties, and are wishing them well.
