Lafayette City Marshall Brian Pope was in court today for a probation hearing, but it wont be the last time he faces Judge Jules Edwards.

According to our news partners at KATC, Edwards scheduled another probation hearing for Jan. 17. Edwards said this would give the district attorney's office ample time to look at Pope's latest actioins that may affect the probation terms.

The legal team representing The Independent was requesting Pope's probation be revoked because he was still in violation of public records protocol. But Edwards said only prosecutors have the authority to revoke probation.

The 21-day period will give the DA's office time to review the case. Edwards urged Pope to use this time to "seriously reflect."
