Lafayette Man Pleads Guilty To Being A Felon In Possession Of A Firearm

The U.S. Attorney Stephanie Finley says 29-year-old Jarrod Foxworthy of Lafayette pleaded guilty this week to being in possession of a firearm even though he is a convicted felon.

Back in April 2013, a Lafayette Parish Sheriff's deputy was called out to a home on Nyoka Circle after a complaint was called into the department.

Deputies say someone matching Foxworthy's description was seen shooting a gun in the front yard of the home.

A deputy who interviewed Foxworthy says he was carrying a Smith & Wesson M & P .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun.

Because Foxworthy had been convicted of robbery in North Carolina in 2007, he was in violation of the law.

A sentencing date has not yet been set for Foxworthy. He faces up to ten years behind bars, three years of supervised release and a $10,000 fine.
