As part of the pending Lafayette Parish School System superintendent search, the School Board voted to approve revisions that would update the future superintendent’s job description.

While interim superintendent Burnell Lejeune prepares for his retirement this summer, the search process progresses to the second week of three that the position will be advertised, said Dawn Morris Board Vice President and District 7 Rerpresentative.

Most of the changes made to the job descriptions list ways in which the future superintendent interacts with the School Board. Changes include that the superintendent serves not only as the Chief Executive but, also the secretary-treasurer of the board. Other changes include:

  • Collaborates and cooperates with Board auditors, attorneys, and consultants.
  • Makes recommendations to the Board on job descriptions for personnel and on organization of staff.

Morris said applicants have until March 27 to apply for the position.
