Starting this Saturday, April 15 and running through Saturday, April 22, Lafayette Parish voters will have a chance to cast their ballot early for the April 29 election.

There will be two items on the ballot to cast your vote either for or against.

One of the items will be the choice between lawyer Candyce Perret and former judge Susan Theall to fill the open seat on the Third Circuit Court of Appeal.

The seat was left vacant after Judge Jimmy Genovese was elected to the Louisiana Supreme Court.

The other item on the agenda is the proposed 1/2 cent sales tax for ten years that is being put forth by the Lafayette Parish School system.

Several local city councils, including Duson, Broussard, Lafayette and Scott, have passed resolutions supporting passage of the tax.

If passed, Lafayette Parish School Board District 6 member Justin Centanni says the money would be used for new building projects and getting rid of close to 250 temporary or "Butler buildings" from elementary and middle school campuses.

If you live in Lafayette Parish, and you plan to vote early, you need to go to the Registrar of Voters Office at 1010 Lafayette Street.
