The Christmas holidays are a time when many imbibe a bit more than other times of the year. The police know this too and want to make sure we all have a safe end to our year.

Louisiana State Police will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint tonight (12/21) at an undisclosed location in Lafayette Parish.

The checkpoint will be manned by Troop I and local law enforcement agencies in an effort to remove impaired drivers off the roadways.

Troopers will be using the Mobile Breath Alcohol Testing Unit to assist in their efforts.

And as always, motorists that witness hazardous situations are urged to call *LSP (*577) and report those activities to the Louisiana State Police.
