The horse owned by Gayle Benson, the owner of the New Orleans Saints and New Orleans Pelicans will be in Maryland this Saturday. Lone Sailor has officially been entered as part of the significantly smaller than the Kentucky Derby field that will take on Derby winner Justify in The Preakness Stakes.

As of  Monday, only eight horses had officially been entered for this Saturday's second jewel of horse racing's triple crown. Lone Sailor who ran eight in the Kentucky Derby looks to improve that position in a couple of ways.

The Preakness is a shorter race than the Kentucky Derby. It should have a much smaller field as well. Also, Tom Amoss, Lone Sailor's trainer is hoping for much better track conditions than the very sloppy conditions at the Derby on May 5th.

Lone Sailor is currently listed as a 25 to 1 shot. Jockey Irad Ortiz will replace James Graham who was in the saddle in Lone Sailor's Kentucky Derby bid.
