What is your dream job? No, I mean your real dream job where you get paid to do something you really love to do and it requires very little effort on your part?

How about this for a job, eating.

I know we have that whole obesity thing going on in Louisiana so it's hard to imagine a state institution looking for people that they can encourage to eat. But, such is the case.

The Sensory Services Lab on the Baton Rouge campus of LSU is looking to recruit food tasters. The job is exactly what you think it is. You'd be asked to sample new foods and products and offer opinions on those items.

The items presented for testing are provided by food companies and marketing companies who are simply trying to get an opinion on potential new products. Your opinion could help shape the future of food across the nation.

If you're interested in applying for the position as a "Tiger Taster" you must be at least 18 years old. Then you simply need to apply at LSU's School of Food and Nutrition website. Different tests will require different samplers. Who takes part in what test will be determined by the food company. This is so they can get feedback from certain age groups, genders, and other specific criteria.

By the way, this isn't a paid position. You'll be volunteering your taste buds for the good of the country. But who knows, if you're a good enough taster you might be able to go pro at some time in your career. One other thing to consider, you could be asked to taste food that has the same flavor of feet, barnyard dirt, or bus fumes. Let's face it not all food is good.

Now if only I could find someone willing to pay me to listen to the radio and bet on losing horses I'd be rich! Or, at least well fed and comfortable living deep within the cushions of my couch.
