The LSU Tigers begin NCAA Regional play on Friday afternoon, playing host to the Lehigh Mountain Hawks in the first game of the Baton Rouge Regional at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge.First-pitch is scheduled for 3 o'clock, and will be followed be the second game, which will match-up UNC-Wilmington and Tulane at 7 pm.

The two losers will meet in an elimination game on Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock, while the two winners advance to a winners bracket contest at 8 pm on Saturday evening.

LSU, the top-seed in the regional, and the #2-national seed, is currently 48-10, overall, including a 28-10 SEC record this season.

Lehigh, the #4-seed in the regional, will head into the match-up with an overall record of 25-29, including a 12-9 record in Patriot League play.

Offensively, the Tigers are hitting a .320, along with 47 home runs, 382 runs batted in, and 112 stolen bases in 143 attempts, while out-scoring the opposition, 415-212.

Pitching-wise, LSU sports an overall, combined, team ERA. of 2.94, compared to a 6.01 for the opposition, while holding foes to a .231 batting average against.

The Mountain Hawks are hitting a .266 as a team, to go along with 39 homers, 263 RBI’s, and 84 stolen bases in 109 attempts.

On the hill, Lehigh sports a team ERA. of a 3.63, holding opponents to a .251 batting average against.

LSU is playing host to a regional for the 23rd time in school history.

The winner of the Baton Rouge Regional will face the winner of the Houston Regional, hosted by the University of Houston, in an NCAA Super Regional next weekend.
