It was a good night to be an LSU Tiger. The football team showed up and played like the LSU of earlier in the season. The rumors about Les Miles' departure were squelched. This was like a welcome relief of fresh air for Tiger nation which had been caught up in the rumor mill for most of the previous week.

After the dust had settled and the scoreboard read LSU 19 - Texas A&M 7 FINAL, LSU Athletic Director Joe Alleva addressed the media. During that address he announced that Les Miles would in fact be staying at LSU to coach another year.

I want to make it very clear that Les Miles is our football coach and will continue to be our football coach. We are committed together to working together and competing at the highest level. And I’m very pleased that Coach Miles is our coach. We’re going to go forward and win championships here at LSU.

Those comments were reported by USA Today. This ended weeks of speculation that had tongues wagging all over the country. Many national pundits suggested in their commentaries that removing Miles from the top job at LSU would be a terrible mistake.

About the game, LSU used their trademark punishing running game, also known as the "vanilla offense" ,to run the ball right down the throats of the Texas A&M defense. Leonard Fournette punished Aggie defenders with a total of 159 yards on the ground. For Fournette that meant a regular season total of 1,741 yards rushing. It was a new school record for most rushing yards gained in a single season.

Derrius Guice also showed up big for the Tigers. He contributed 73 yards rushing but really electrified the crowd with an incredible 75 yard kickoff return to open the second half. It's a good thing the ground game was hitting on all cylinders because Tiger quarterback Brandon Harris struggled. That's putting it in a nice way.

The Tigers only allowed A&M 250 yards of offense and they gave up one touchdown. They also forced three Aggie turnovers. The Tiger defense also sacked the Texas A&M quarterback four times during the game.

Except for some brutal penalties and several miscues in the kicking game the Tigers looked like they had found their mojo once again. Up next for LSU will be a trip to a bowl game. Some of the bowl speculation for the Tigers include the Outback Bowl, the Liberty  Bowl, or the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl.  Of course final bowl invitations won't be sent until after conference championship games have been played.
