St. Landry Parish will soon have a new multi-purpose emergency response training facility. According to our news partner, KATC the $1.4 million project was funded by Congress and should be completed early next year. St. Landry Parish District 3 Fire Chief Ray Mendenhall said the facility will include a fire tower, a shooting range and a pond for emergency diver training. The four story fire tower will be equipped with burn spaces, windows, attic spaces and balconies.

Mendenhall went on to say,

Time is equivalent to life. The more you practice here the better you will be out there because it becomes second nature and it becomes something that is automatic.
