Names Released Of Victims In Lafayette Parish Crash
The identities have been released of the mother and son killed in a Lafayette Parish crash around 8:00 a.m. Monday morning.
La. State Police spokesman Trooper Brooks David says 23-year-old Kristen Trimm of Arnaudville was driving a car east on LA Highway 1252 when she crossed into the westbound lane and hit a truck nearly head on. Her son, 7-year-old Branson Taylor, was a passenger in the back of the vehicle and was not properly restrained. They were both pronounced dead on the scene. The crash happened near Kidder Road.
Trimm's other passenger, 26-year-old Ronnie Touchet of Breaux Bridge, was wearing a seat belt and is suffering severe injuries. The truck driver, 22-year-old Joey Stelly of Carencro, suffered moderate injuries.
David says authorities are investigating toxicology samples to check for driver impairment.
