Did you ever take the trip to New Orleans east to Jazzland during it's prime in the early 2000s? The theme park, which was later bought by Six Flags, now sits abandoned in a crime-ridden part of the city. Operators never reopened the park, after it was badly damaged during Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Parts of the largest roller coaster, The Mega Zephyr, still sit idle and covered with mud brought by the storm surge from the storm.

Need a refresher? This was the original commercial for the park, which opened to the public in 2000. There have been a number of failed attempts to re-develop the area, but residents have so far resisted plans to make that happen.
