President Barack Obama announced his endorsement of Hillary Clinton just moments after his long-awaited meeting with Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Fox News reports the president congratulated Clinton and said about the former secretary of state, "I don't think there's ever been someone so qualified to hold this office."

"I know how hard this job can be. That’s why I know Hillary will be so good at it," Obama said. "In fact, I don’t think there’s ever been someone so qualified to hold this office."

Though Obama has picked Clinton to succeed him as president, the Vermont senator has not conceded to Clinton. Following his meeting with the president, Sanders said he will continue to compete in the upcoming District of Columbia primary election.

The meeting came only two days after Hillary Clinton earned enough delegates to be named the presumptive Democratic nominee.
