On NewsTalk 96.5 KPEL's 'Brand Buzz' this week Jaci Russo discussed entrepreneurship and branding.

When asked to explain how entrepreneurship relates to branding Russo said,

We're talking about people that take their branding to a very personal level and it's truly an entrepreneurial spirit which is what Acadiana is built on. I read an article over the weekend from the New York Times on Lafayette, Louisiana from 1981. It was fantastic! It was all about what Lafayette was in 1981. It was a perfect capsule. We had 1% city tax and 1% sales parish tax...It was the height of the 'oil boom' and we had 1,000 or 2,000 millionaires in a city of about 85,000 people. All of the assets combined were $1 billion. That was fueling the fire of that entrepreneurial spirit that built the 'oil boom' in the first place with the Cajuns around here that would see a problem and find a solution.

One of the most important parts of being entrepreneurial according to Russo,

Being accessible. You know what's great? When I visit oil field clients they're not sitting on some office on the third floor they're down in the shop. They're down on the floor. they're talking to people, intermingling, solving problems. They are still 'hands on' and that's why their companies do so well.
