As we remembered the two year anniversary of the historic and devastating flood that hit south Louisiana in 2016, the UL Lafayette History Department wants to document your stories. There have been several opportunities for you to share your memories of what happened to you and your family / friends personally, with one still coming up.

Researchers from the History Dept will host a 'History Harvest' to collect oral stories of the devastation, which will be used for a larger project on disaster response. They are specifically seeking:

• where you were and how you were impacted by the 2016 Floods,
• how you personally responded or helped others after they took place,
• what sort of impact they had on the Lafayette and Acadiana community,
• how they compared to other disasters in Lafayette or Acadiana history,
• and what impact you think this disaster had on you in the last 2 years.

Each interview will take between 5-7 minutes, and the next time available for documenting these important memories is below.

  • Saturday, September 22 at Moore Park, 250 Couret Drive, Carencro 9:00 am - noon
