Some LUS Customers Had An Outage Last Night

According to Beth Chiasson, Lafayette Utilities Service Media Relation Coordinator, power to 4,100 customers was out starting just after 1:30 a.m. this morning.  While the power was back on just after 2:20 a.m., the reason for the outage took a bit to be diagnosed.

Chiasson says workers at the Luke Substation found out that a “lightning arrestor malfunctioned”, and she says, “our team quickly figured out the problem, and we were able to get our customers back up and running after a relatively short time.”

Chiasson tells KPEL that the thousands that were affected for less than an hour included residents along with businesses that were in the areas of West Congress, Ambassador Caffery and  Dulles Drive.
