The St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Narcotics Division arrested a man last night after they say they witnessed suspected drug activity on Nursery Highway, and then they tried to stop the man's car.

Agents say they gave chase to stop 35-year-old Brandon Nelson, and while he fled, he was caught a short time later in a cane field in Parks.

When they caught him, agents say he had methamphetamine and marijuana on him.

He was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Aggravated Fight From An Officer
    Obstruction of Justice
Possession of Schedule II CDS (Methamphetamine)
Possession of Schedule I CDS (Marijuana)
    Ignoring Stop Sign
    General Speed Law

He was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center.
