Roland August, Jr., 18, 420 Sorrel Road, Sorrel, LA was arrested on May 27, 2015 at 11:20 am for illegal possession of stolen things and flight from an officer. On May 22, 2015, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of a theft of a four wheeler that occurred on Gibby Road. On May 26, 2015, a deputy assigned to patrol the area observed August riding the stolen ATV on Desonnier Road and initiated a traffic stop. August fled from the police unit into a wooded area off of the roadway. With the assistance of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, the deputy recovered the stolen ATV that was abandoned by August in the woods. August was asked to come in to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Franklin in reference to the investigation and was subsequently arrested on the charges listed above. A deputy transported August to the parish jail for booking. August was released after posting a $2,000 bond.  Detectives believe this case is connected to another complaint of a stolen ATV received on May 21, 2015. Deputies made an arrest in that case and additional details can be read in the May 26, 2015 release. In both of these cases, the victims listed their ATV’s for sale on Craigslist. The victims subsequently agreed to meet with subject(s) claiming to be a potential buyer in the Jeanerette and Baldwin areas. The subject(s) then failed to return the vehicles after claiming to take the ATV’s on test drives. The investigation is ongoing.

Guarisco turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. Guarisco was released after posting a $1,500 bond. The warrant stems from a moth long investigation into the sale of methamphetamines in St. Mary Parish. During a search for a subject wanted for distributing illegal drugs, detectives received a tip that the subject was at a residence on Florence Street. Detectives received consent to search the residence and located crystal meth and items of drug paraphernalia.
