The following is a list of the latest arrests from the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office.

These people were arrested:

Leslie Matthews, 40, 178 Friendship Alley, Amelia, LA was arrested on May 12, 2015 at 4:01 on a warrant for issuing worthless checks and 4 warrants for failure to appear for drug court status conferences (contempt of court). A deputy located Matthews at her residence on the warrants. No bail is set.

 

Ben Box, 25, 109 Kaleb Lane, Centerville, LA was arrested on May 12, 2015 at 6:46 pm on a warrant for felony theft and felony illegal possession of stolen things. The warrants are the result of an investigation into a report of a theft from two businesses in Centerville that occurred in March. The detective assigned to the case learned that several items including marine radios were stolen from two workboats. The stolen property totaled over $6,000 in value. During the course of the investigation, the detective received information that Box attempted to sell items matching the description of the stolen property at a local pawn shop. While speaking with the detective, Box admitted that he stole the property. The marine radios and some of the other items were returned to the owners. The detective obtained a warrant for Box’s arrest. A deputy later located Box on Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista. No bail is set.

 

Jason Gaskins, 32, 129 Friendship Alley, Amelia, LA was arrested on May 12, 2015 at 6:48 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of domestic abuse battery and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of aggravated assault. A deputy patrolling the Amelia area made contact with Gaskins and learned of the active warrants for his arrest. No bail is set.

 

Andrea Wilson, 29, 137 Friendship Alley, Amelia, LA was arrested on May 12, 2015 at 9:14 pm on two Morgan City Court warrants for failure to appear on charges of disturbing the peace and contempt of court. A deputy patrolling the Amelia area made contact with Wilson at a residence in Amelia and learned of the active warrants for her arrest. No bail is set.

 

Jason Carvalho, 38, 154 Migues Lane, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on May 13, 2015 at 1:42 am on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, domestic abuse battery, simple criminal damage to property, and violation of protective orders. Carvalho was also charged on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of domestic abuse battery and simple criminal damage to property. A bounty hunter surrendered Carvalho to deputies at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on one of the warrants. During booking, jailers located the second warrant for Carvalho’s arrest. No bail is set.

Jonathan Ruffin, 28, 1414 James Street, Siracusaville, LA was arrested on May 12, 2015 at 6:47 pm for the following offenses:

-     Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute

-     Violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone)

-     Possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of juveniles

 

Detectives with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division executed a search warrant at Ruffin’s residence. During the search, detectives located several bags of marijuana inside Ruffin's bedroom. Three children were present at the time of the warrant was served. The location is within 2,000 feet of a church. Ruffin was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

 

Davida Bias, 31, 1140 Grace Street Amelia, LA was arrested on May 12, 2015 at 6:47 pm for entry on or remaining in places or on land after being forbidden. While conducting the investigation on James Street, detectives observed Bias on the property. Bias was told several times to leave the property while detectives conducted the investigation. Bias refused detectives orders to leave and was subsequently placed under arrest. Detectives released her on a summons to appear in court on August 19, 2015.
