The following is a list of the people who were booked into jail by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office for May 5, 2016:

Richard Cormier, 28, 321 Highway 182 E Lot #9, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on May 4, 2016 at 1:11 pm for domestic abuse battery, false imprisonment, and criminal damage to property. A deputy investigating a report of a battery found evidence that Cormier grabbed a female victim around her neck and threw her to the floor physically preventing her from leaving a residence in Bayou Vista. The deputy also located the victim’s clothes and found that Cormier poured bleach on them. Cormier was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

Mahammad Abdul, 21, 616 Cypremort Road, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on May 4, 2016 at 3:34 pm for driving under suspension and improper lane usage. A deputy patrolling Jeanerette observed a vehicle cross the centerline into oncoming traffic twice on Highway 182 and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy made contact with the driver, Abdul, and discovered that he was operating the vehicle with a driver’s license that was listed as suspended. Abdul was released on a summons to appear in court on August 29, 2016.

Tamika Flemming, 105 Collins Street, Baldwin, LA was arrested on May 4, 2016 at 5:13 pm for driving under suspension. A deputy observed a vehicle pull into a gas station on Main Street in Baldwin. The driver then partially pulled out of the parking lot onto the roadway, stopped, and drove in reverse back into the parking lot. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Flemming and found that she was operating the vehicle with a driver’s license that was listed as suspended. Flemming was released on a summons to appear in court on August 29, 2016.

Abriahn S. Baker, 19, 324 Clarke Road Apt. C, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on May 4, 2016 at 11:26 pm for the following offenses:

-     Domestic abuse battery

-     Criminal damage to property

-     Disturbing the peace

-     Resisting an officer

A deputy responded to a disturbance in progress at a residence in Bayou Vista. The deputy made contact with several subjects including Baker who was yelling profanities. As the deputy began the investigation into the complaint, Baker attempted to strike a male subject. Baker was detained. While being placed in handcuffs, Baker repeatedly pulled away from the deputy. The deputy later found evidence that Baker broke a door frame and threw a vase causing it to break inside the residence. The deputy also observed that there was a child in the home at the time. Baker was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

Travis L. Gilmore, 24, 425 Leo Street, Patterson, LA was arrested on May 5, 2016 at 3:43 am for the following offenses:

-     Stop sign violation

-     Possession of (open) alcoholic beverages in motor vehicles

-     Ignition interlock device offense

-     Operating a vehicle while under suspension for certain prior offenses

A deputy observed a vehicle fail to make a complete stop at the stop sign on Anthony Street and US Highway 90 before entering onto the highway. The deputy conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of a nearby business and made contact with the driver, identified as Gilmore. The deputy observed an open container of an alcoholic beverage in the vehicle. Also during the traffic stop investigation, the deputy found that Gilmore had an ignition interlock device restriction on his driver’s license and that the vehicle he was operating was not equipped with such a device. The deputy transported Gilmore to the parish jail for booking. Bail is set at $13,250.

Kane Smith, 17, 167 Burchfield Lane, Berwick, LA was arrested on May 4, 2016 at 7:24 pm for the following offenses:

-     Distribution of marijuana

-     Violation of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) law

-     Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute

-     Transactions involving drug proceeds

-     Resisting an officer

Justin Taylor, 18, 216 Field Street, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on May 4, 2016 at 7:24 pm for distribution of marijuana and violation of a CDS law.

Bree Aucoin, 21, 1407 Middle Road, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on May 4, 2016 at 7:24 pm for possession of marijuana, 2nd offense and general speed law.

Caleb Gros, 19, 154 Sun Road, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on May 4, 2016 at 7:24 pm for possession of marijuana, 3rd offense, violation of a CDS law, and obstruction of justice.

Detectives observed a vehicle traveling 45 miles per hour in a posted 35 mile per hour zone on Highway 317 in Centerville and conducted a traffic stop. When the vehicle stopped, Smith exited and fled on foot. The other 3 occupants of the vehicle, Taylor, Gros, and the driver, Aucoin, were detained pending further investigation. The stop occurred near the school board building. A detective pursued Smith and apprehended him behind a residence on Yellow Bayou Road. Detectives located 4 bags of high grade marijuana in Smith’s possession that were packaged in a manner consistent with street level drug sales. Detectives also located a digital scale and plastic baggies in a backpack Smith was carrying. Continuing the investigation into the illegal drugs, detectives received consent to search the vehicle and located a fifth bag of marijuana in the center console. During the arrests, a detective observed Gros discard a hand rolled marijuana cigarette and attempt to conceal the illegal substance by stepping on it. All 4 subjects were transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set for Smith, Gros, or Taylor. Aucoin was released on a summons to appear in court on August 29, 2016.
