Today, the world celebrates the International Day of Happiness, which, believe it or not, is a real holiday! We are supposed to promote happiness and well being around us, and pay it forward, so that's what I'm going to do.

There are so many things that I love about living in Louisiana, that I thought I would make up my own list of things that make me smile here in Acadiana. Here is my list of cajun things that are beloved, not just by me, but by many. Spread some happiness today, friends!

 

  • Sno Balls on a hot summer day
  • Boiled crawfish on the patio with good friends
  • Driving over the beautiful Atchafalaya Basin
  • Sunrise services at Hodges Gardens on Easter morning
  • Biting into that perfect link of boudin
  • Going to any festival where grandparents and kids alike are welcome
  • Dancing at Downtown Alive! Rhythms on the River, and Music & Market
  • Eating lunch at Parc Sans Souci with some great free local music every Friday at Bach Lunch
  • Picking my own fruit and vegetables at our Acadiana 'Pick Your Own' farms
  • Going to the Delcambre Seafood and Farmers Market - voted one of the top farmers markets in the United States
  • The fountains at Parc Sans Souci
  • Any Arts and Crafts Festival, including the one at Shadows on the Teche in New Iberia
  • Tailgating at Cajun Field for any Ragin' Cajun sporting event
  • Cracklins, any time, any where
  • Walking into a specialty meat market around the holidays, and smelling the delicious aroma of tasty dishes being prepared
  • Taking visitors to look for alligators at Cypress Lake on the UL Lafayette campus
  • The Sunset Herb and Garden Festival
  • Mardi Gras parades
  • Po Boy's from Olde Tyme Grocery
  • Fourth of July Celebration in Erath
  • Friendly faces wherever you go in Acadiana
