Three CenLa Victims Hospitalized After New Iberia Shooting
Iberia Parish Sheriff's deputies are searching for a shooting suspect who sent three victims to the emergency room for in what is being called a drug-related shooting.
Sheriff's spokesperson Capt. Wendell Raborn said deputies responded to the shooting in the 1000 block of Shot Street, in New Iberia, Friday just after 7 p.m.
Once at the scene, deputies could locate no victims, but they did discover spent bullet casings.
Shortly after, the victims--who had sustained non-life threatening gunshot wounds--were found in a vehicle at a convenience store on Admiral Doyle Drive. They were transported to Lafayette hospitals for treatment.
Raborn said three victims are from Central Louisiana.
Investigators believed the shooting occurred as a result of an argument involving narcotics.
The only description on the suspect, given by the victims, was a black male with dread locks, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants.
The investigation is ongoing.
