NBC News management announced Matt Lauer was fired for sexual misconduct in the workplace after a detailed account was given by a co-worker. In a statement, NBC News Chairman Andy Lack said:

"Our highest priority is to create a workplace environment where everyone feels safe and protected, and to ensure that any actions that run counter to our core values are met with consequences, no matter who the offender."

Also in the statement, Lack said this was the first complaint the network had received about Lauer during his 20 years with the TODAY show. He went on to say there was reason to believe there could be more allegations.
